Fiskars Group recalls Fiskars Functional Form™ Spoon produced on December 23rd, 2019

Fiskars Group has discovered that a batch of Fiskars Functional Form™ Spoon may contain PAA (primary aromatic amines) above acceptable limits. As this is a food contact item, there is a potential health risk.

We advise to recall the following product, with immediate effect:

Batch Code: 191223

The particular batch, produced on 23rd December 2019, can be identified from the batch code on the reverse of the packaging, above the barcode, or imprinted on the reverse of the spoon. All stock of this batch has been requested to be removed from all points of sale. The issue does not concern any Functional Form spoons produced in a different period or any other items in the Functional Form product range.

If you have purchased the item described above, please return it to the store for a refund or to change to a same item that has been produced in a different period.

1. Why Fiskars is recalling the Fiskars Functional Form spoon?

We have advised to recall the product, Fiskars Functional Form™ Spoon 1027299, batch code 191223, with immediate effect. We have discovered that the product may contain PAA (primary aromatic amines) above acceptable limits. As this is a food contact item, potential health risk cannot be excluded.

The particular batch, produced on 23rd December 2019, can be identified from the batch code on the reverse of the packaging, above the barcode, or imprinted on the reverse of the spoon. All stock of this batch has been requested to be removed from all points of sale. The issue does not concern any Functional Form spoons produced in a different period or any other items in the Functional Form product range.

2. How is Fiskars taking care consumers do not use the product?

The product has been put on internal order stop immediately and we are currently investigating the root cause and running additional tests for the item in question. Deliveries for this product have been halted until the issue has been resolved.

We are informing our wholesale trade customers and the individual webstore consumers about the matter. We have advised our wholesale trade customers to remove all stock of this particular batch code from all points of sale and contact their Fiskars Sales representative to arrange stock uplift and replenishment. We have provided our partners a consumer notification statement for store display and are advising consumers who have purchased the item to return it to the store for a refund or to change to a similar item from a different batch.

3. Is there a risk for consumers using the product? What are potential health issues that can be caused?

There is minimal risk with short term exposure and hence we are recalling this item within a safe time frame. In case of persistent exposure over a long time period, we cannot exclude a possibility of a health risk. We are taking every precaution to eliminate this longer-term risk by reacting quickly and have thus recalled the product.

4. Are other Functional Form range products safe to use?

Safety is a top priority for us. Our products have been crafted using advanced technical manufacturing and materials. They have been tested and perform excellently for the activities and environments they were created for.

5. How can the batch in question can be identified?

The particular batch, produced on 23rd December 2019, can be identified from the batch code 191223 on the reverse of the packaging, above the barcode. The batch in question has been sold in Europe, Russia, UK and Australia via Fiskars partners and our own Fiskars webstore. We have informed our wholesale trade customers and consumers about the matter.

The batch in question is limited, distributed between March and end of May to our customers.

8. Where the batch in question has been produced?

The batch in question has been produced by one of our suppliers in China.

9. How can I receive a new product to replace a product from the batch in question?

We kindly ask you to go back to the store where you have bought it. If this is not possible, we recommend you go to the nearest store that is selling Fiskars Functional Form products.

10. I no longer have the receipt for the product. Can I still return it?

Yes, you can of course still return or exchange the product. The batch in question can be identified from the batch code 191223 on the reverse of the packaging, above the barcode. If the packaging has been discarded, there is an imprint on the reverse of the spoon, where arrow points to 12 and 1 and a 9 is imprinted on either side of the arrow.
